Privacy policy
I'm Josh, and Pixelboost is a one-person web studio. This page explains what information this site collects, why, and what I do with it. No jargon, no surprises. If anything here isn't clear, just get in touch.
The short version
I collect only what I need to reply to you and to run the free scan you asked for. I don't sell your information, I don't share it with advertisers, and I use privacy-friendly analytics that don't track you across the web or set advertising cookies.
What I collect, and when
When you use the contact form
You choose what to send: typically your name, email, a message, and optionally your current website address. I use this only to reply to you and, if you shared a website, to take a quick look before I do. That's it.
When you run the free website audit
The audit tool takes the website address you enter and runs it through Google's PageSpeed Insights to score its speed, accessibility, SEO, and setup. Entering your own email is optional — if you do, I use it to send you the scan results and, sometimes, to follow up about your site. The URL you scan is also sent to me so I can see who's checking their site. If you don't want that, don't enter an email, but the scanned URL is still shared with me.
Analytics
I use a self-hosted copy of Plausible Analytics to understand which pages get visited. Plausible is privacy-first: it uses no cookies, collects no personal data, and doesn't follow you around the internet. I see aggregate numbers (page views, rough locations, referrers), never anything that identifies you personally.
The tools that keep this site running
A few services process data on my behalf to make this site work and keep it secure:
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site, and helps protect it from abuse.
- Cloudflare Turnstile is a privacy-friendly CAPTCHA alternative that checks the contact form and audit tool aren't being abused by bots. It doesn't track you.
- Google PageSpeed Insights is the engine behind the free audit; the URL you scan is sent to Google to be measured.
- Fastmail is where the emails from the contact form and audit tool land, so I can read and reply to them.
How long I keep things
I keep contact and audit emails as long as I need them to help you or to keep a record of our conversation, and no longer than is reasonable. If you'd like me to delete what I have about you, just ask and I'll take care of it.
Your choices
You can email me any time to see what information I hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. You're never on a mailing list you didn't ask to join — I don't run one.
